The volume presents the sessions from the 2025 A occhi aperti festival, enriched by analyses focused on the comics publishing world. The text comprises three essays by Emilio Varrà dedicated to the work of the festival's guest artists, followed by an in-depth look at Hurricane by Alberto Sebastiani and an essay by Ilaria del Gaudio on the concept of "worlds" in contemporary art. These are followed by conversations between Lika Nüssli and Federica Lucchesini, Hurricane and Vittorio Giacopini, B*MO, Dario Sostegni and Raffaele Sorrentino, and David B. and Emanuele Dattilo.

The collaboration between the Scuola di Lettere e Beni Culturali of the Università di Bologna, the Erasmus Mundus CLE program in European Literary Cultures and BilBOlbul, the International Comic Festival, is now strong thanks to our common objectives. Our collaboration started many years ago and produced the “Nuove conversazioni a vignetta” series.

The Festival represents a unique opportunity for students, as it offers a moment in which internationally renowned authors reflect on the potential of narration through images, and, starting from comics and illustrations, dialogue with other artistic disciplines and new media’s narrative resources.

Every year Erasmus Mundus CLE students record and transcribe the Festival’s interviews during a writing laboratory, organized within the “Seminar on European comics”.
